In his powerfully painted works of art, Bernard de Wolff seeks a connection with traditional ways of painting. The illusionism of light and the spaciousness in classical paintings fascinates him. All Bernard’s paintings have a story to tell, the use of colours, the cities, the season, his state of mind. It is all expressed through his talent by creating his art. His work is included in collections in Russia, South Africa, the United States and many more.
His Life
Bernard de Wolff studied Art History at the University of Amsterdam between 1982 and 1988. During his study he focussed on classical archeology, cultural anthropology, theatrical media, aesthetics and cultural philosophy. He travelled to West Africa multiple times, which contributed to his evolvement as an artist. His first art exhibition was in 1982 at a gallery in The Hague, the Netherlands.
